Therapeutic Massage

Massage stimulates the flow of vital life energy and provides essential nurturing in a context of care and trust. Massage is an excellent way to evoke an awareness of the body, which in and of itself may stimulate positive change and improved health. Working with the doctor and other practitioners in the office, we can combine our skills to best benefit each clients’ needs.

Modalities

Swedish Massage uses a variety of hand movements to relax and warm muscle tissue in preparation for deeper work, stretches muscles fibers, breaks up adhesions, stimulates the nervous system, improves circulation and promotes relaxation.  In addition, massage increases the supply of fresh nutrients to the tissues, aids in the elimination of toxins, improves muscle tone, increases range of motion and calms nervous tension.

Deep Tissue/Trigger Point Massage is a combination modality, drawing on a variety of resources. Proper application can aid in injury prevention, soft tissue repair, priming for an event, speeding up the healing process, promote decreased recovery time, and increase balance and performance. Using Deep Tissue Therapy and Trigger Point work we focus on Myofascial restrictions and adhesions in specific patterns to facilitate the body’s ability to heal, release tension, and affect proprioception (restore balance). This approach benefits health-conscience athletes.
